November 1, 2010

Dear Family,

Things are going good here! That's a bummer about Ray, but at least he is in a better place helping out with missionary work on the other side! The Lord needs lots of faithful, righteous people to help with the tons and tons of work that need to be done there in the spirit world! I definitely agree that the plan of salvation is something super important that we are so blessed to have! That's why it's so important to make these things known to everyone because it's the only way and it could help so many people and save so much heartache in the world today!

The Van Vleets are just so full of charity! They have us over for dinner a lot and they are always trying to buy us food and things! I love them. They are just the greatest! We moved their baptism date back to the 7th of November. We talked to them about entertainment and the media the other night and committed them to get rid of all their rated R movies. They were like, "bummer we can't watch those anymore...oh well we could sell them; we could use the money." They just have such great faith it's awesome!

Chatona is doing ok. We gave her a little bit of a break because she just didn't know what she wanted and this week she had a rough week. Her brother died in a car accident and she and her boyfriend are going through some really tuff times and might be breaking up. It's just been ruff so we are going to go back over with some girls her age and see if we can help her out a little bit more. George is doing good he almost came to church this week and has been really reading the Book of Mormon. There is a big scripture dinner on Friday and he is going to go to that so he can meet some of the members! He is doing good!

Also a funny story...at church there is this boy that we have seen all the time and we thought he was a member. Someone came up to us and said they had someone that wants to take the missionary lessons! We can tell how the Lord has the people prepared, you just need to be ready for them! Dana VanVleet was telling us he had lots of missionaries stop by his door but he never felt it but he said when we came he could tell we were going to help him and let us start teaching his family!

On Tuesday after district meeting we had a member from Youngstown ward call us and tell us her friend was moving and needed help and then she called back and said her bf is kicking her out right the. She wanted us to come help right then. So we did and we loaded up a Uhaul and took it to her new apartment. The lady driving the Uhaul drove too close to the ditch and got sucked in and almost tipped it over! It was pouring rain too! It's one of those things you just have to see it to know what I'm talking about but it was super funny! Wednesday we had our trunk or treat and chili cook off at the church and it was a really good time! Everyone had some pretty good costumes! On Thursday we helped out Brother Chinchic with his leaves. (he has a lot!) He bought a 30 x 60 tarp and we raked about half of the leaves into that and folded it up and put it in his truck and took it and dumped it. It was about 500 to 600 lbs of leaves that we had it was so heavy!! But it was still fun! Then we had dinner with a non member guy and he is super into bone sie? Whatever those things are, it's a little tree in a dish! So we learned a lot about those things! Then Friday we went to the Van Vleets and tried to help Dana find his scriptures in his basement full of boxes. We couldn't find them so we went to the Allens and helped rake some of their leaves, but they live in the forest so they have a lot. Then we had a big bonfire and burned them! That was pretty fun! We did a lot of service this week. Oh, and I bought a pumpkin! That's pretty cool! :)

There is only 4 of us in my district, which is kind of a smallish district, there is me, Elder Hollingsworth, and in Ashtabula there is Elder Thorton and Elder Helton. So anyways, I think that's pretty much my week and all the fun things that happened and stuff. We have another leadership training meeting in Cleveland again this week so I'll be in Cleveland again! Well I hope everyone has a good week and reads their scriptures! Love you and hope all is well! Keep up the good work!
Love,
Elder Price
